The municipalities of Olhão and Lagos will have bodies of Municipal Police (PM), which are expected to start operating next year. Currently, the only municipality in the Algarve that already has this security force is Albufeira. In the case of Olhão, the Government already gave the green light last month to the creation of the PM by the municipality, and a total of 12 agents are included in the regulation of the organization and operation of the service. The priority mission is to oversee "compliance with laws and regulations" in matters relating to the duties of the municipality, and to cooperate "with the security forces in maintaining public tranquility and protecting local communities." With regard to Lagos, the chamber published in Diário da República, last week, the notice of the opening of the period for public consultation, for a period of 30 days, of the municipal regulation. The autarchy intends to provide this new service with a staff of 26 staff, consisting of a commander, a graduate and 24 agents. "In terms of organization, it is expected that the Municipal Police will have an opening hours of seven days a week, from 08h00 to 00h00, which will be extended in the high season period (considered between the end of March and the end of October) to a schedule that will last until 4:00 am, "the chamber reveals.
